Randall Beaty

Randall “Randy” Beaty joined Newton, Jones & McNeely in 2017. As an associate, he has handled litigation across a variety of practice areas, primarily in the areas of personal injury defense, 18- wheeler and vehicular accident defense, construction, workers compensation defense, Texas Tort Claims Act defense, and commercial accident defense.
Before joining Newton, Jones & McNeely, Randy served in the Houston Police Department for over 32 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. During his time with HPD, he oversaw the police response to a multitude of crimes and emergencies, developed numerous strategic and response plans, participated in countless investigations, and interacted with individuals in every walk of life, from the homeless to the President of the United States. His years with HPD give him a unique insight, maturity and a tenacity that he brings to the practice of law.
Randy attended South Texas College of Law Houston in the part-time program while still working with HPD. He graduated summa cum laude and second in his class. While at STCL, he competed in the intramural mock trial tournament and received an Outstanding Advocate award. He competed on a varsity moot court team in the school’s advocacy program, which was recently ranked number 1 in the nation by the University of Houston Law Center’s Blakely Advocacy Institute. He was a member of the South Texas Law Review, received 13 CALI Excellence for the Future awards for highest grades, was on the Dean’s Honor list every semester, and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. Prior to law school, Randy earned a Bachelor of Arts in photography and journalism from Sam Houston State University, and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University.
He is a 2011 Austin Marathon finisher, is active in the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court and the Federalist Society, and enjoys fishing, spending time with his family, and playing the acoustic guitar.
