Over his 35+ legal year career, Pete has handled a variety of cases, including personal injury, business disputes, and oil and gas litigation. He has tried 80 jury trials to verdict as the first chair lawyer on both the plaintiff and defense side. Most of Pete’s work has been on the plaintiff’s side, where he has multiple seven and eight figure verdicts and settlements, including an eight figure verdict in a will contest and tortious interference with inheritance rights case. Pete was formerly a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) where he held the rank of Advocate after establishing that he had tried 50+ jury trials to verdict as the first chair lawyer. From 2008 to 2011, Pete was listed in the area of plaintiff’s personal injury law in Texas Super Lawyers, which is published by Thomson Reuters and distributed by Texas Monthly.
Pete was a partner in an insurance defense firm for a number of years and defended companies on a variety of litigation matters. From 2012 to 2017, Pete worked as a trial consultant for a prominent Houston trial firm. In 2019, he returned to the practice of law and joined Newton, Jones & McNeely as of counsel, where he handles both plaintiff and defense cases.
Pete earned a B.A. and his law degree from Texas Tech University. He tried his first case to a 12 person jury within 45 days of receiving his law license, and he has been involved in trial work ever since.
Pete is active in an inner city church that ministers to the homeless hurting, and hungry, and the Youth Development Center (YDC), and after school literacy program for children living in the Greater Fifth Ward.
